Nerd Tunes by Doc

3 RFL in SL Sci Fi Con #6 - Merciless Ming's , Gaiman

DJ DOC aka Holocluck Henly

On Saturday, June 22, DJ Doc aka Holocluck Henly of RFL ADvocacy played a special set of NERDTUNES, a mix of scifi and movie music, novelties, parodies, cult favorites and more. The venue was Merciless Ming’s at the SciFi Con. What a great set and we hope Doc will spin more again in the near future!

This was the 6th year of the Second Life SciFi convention with six regions of pure scifi bliss and many many scifi based RFL teams with booths. If you didn’t make it, put the event on your calendar for next year!

Peter Jurasik at SFA Con

PJ #2 RFL in SL Sci Fi Con #6 - Steampunk Theater, Straczy

Zander Greene interviews “the voice” of Peter Jurasik

Actor Peter Jurasik, known for roles including Londo Mollari in Babylon 5 and Sid the Snitch in Hill Street Blues,  made a special apprearence at the Science Fiction Alliance Convention (a Relay For Life of Second Life Event) on Sunday, June 23rd. The live audio interview was moderated by Zander Greene, Teams Area Chair for Relay of Life of Second Life and broadcast on Fantasy Faire Radio.

Jurasik addressed topics ranging from his work in television and film, the role that Science Fiction and technology play in a global culture, and his own personal reasons for supporting Relay For Life.

“Peter Jurasik’s incredible talent as an actor creates characters that we feel like we know personally,” says Convention organizer, Ariadne Fall.  “His ability to tell a great story to his fans precedes him.”

The SFA convention is part of the Relay For Life of Second Life, which so far this year has raised over $280,000 US. The convention brought together a wide range of RPG communities and merchants to raise funds for RFL and to celebrate the creativity, innovation and spirit of community within the genre of Science Fiction.

One World, One Fight – Foundation Org

I would love to showcase one of the many amazing teams taking part in Relay For Life of Second Life, a team from Brazil called Foundation Organization for Life.

Foundation For Life_002

This is their second year participating in our Relay group and I have attended many of their events.  I do have to say, they bring a very unique flavor and style to their events.

Like all of us, they too have been touched by cancer, and like all of us, could not stand still.  They chose to fight alongside all of us.

Foundation For Life_003

Foundation Org is captained by Luna Portio (lunavonrandolf Kenin) and is a tightly knit group of friends.  Geez, do they know how to party!  They bring some of the best music to the fight which has you asking: who needs a vacation when you can TP to a Foundation event.  Absolutely wonderful.

For me, what is amazing about Foundation Org is the noise they make on Facebook and I strongly recommend you check their group out and given them a “Like” at this group link:

Foundation Org has also created a website, where they host a pile of info about the team, pictures of their events and even video.

Coming from Brazil, English is not their native language, so communications doesn’t come easy to them, in a group populated mostly by Americans, Canadians and Europeans. But like all of us in Relay, we stand tall to challenges.  Some of us are learning Portuguese, others use the tools at hand available in SL, in the way of translators. One of the ones I found is from Metanomics available on Marketplace for $20L and has come in very handy on more than one occasion during my time on the committee.

Foundation For Life_001

I urge you to stop by a Foundation Org event, fill their kiosks with your Linden Loving and support a very hard working and caring team of Relay fighters. What better way to demonstrate our understanding that we understand, cancer is a world fight.

Home and Garden – post event blog – June 8, 2013

Welcome back, Relay Family!  Today I have a couple of homes to show you that were offered at this years RFL Home and Garden Expo.

CIRCA had two nice skybox-type houses in their vendors, ones that I like to call “starter” homes.  They are simple one or two room structures which will fit on a small piece of property.

My favorite was the French Persuation (sic), with it’s muted earth tones and garden area in front.  Patio furniture was also available, which I rezzed inside the house.

Their other house, the Orbit, is a two-story white build with lots and lots of windows.

Dorian‘s home rezzed from a little birdhouse, which was a pretty build all by itself.  The one-story home has four rooms, which I decided were an entry way, living room, bedroom and combination kitchen/dining.  There was also a nice back deck area.

The inside is done in a soft rose tone, and includes a cute fireplace, which was also their hunt gift.

Separately, a delightful swing was available from Dorian, with multiple couple and single sits.  I found mine easily….perfect for the tired blogger.  I may never leave this swing…..

Sim 4 was sponsored by Stonewood Homes, so be sure and visit them often.  Tell they Relay sent you.

Home and Garden – post event blog – June 7, 2013

As promised, I am continuing to show readers some of the items that were available to us at the 2013 RFL Home and Garden Expo.  This is both to let you know what is out there and to ask you to support the fine merchants that participated with their donations and time.

Chiana Oh became a favorite of mine during the Expo and hunt.  The Long Pine picture is haunting, and was their hunt gift.  The colorful Futon set won Bain’s heart, and will be placed on our back patio.  It has both single and couple animations.  I crashed a few times, trying to sit, but  think I just forgot to empty my very full cache.

LaGalleria was already a favorite, and didn’t miss with their items this year.  I didn’t rez the house they had in the vendor, due to size, but it looks lovely.  ImageThe wicker hostess set comes in white or natural, and would look fantastic on any porch.  Bain and I love watching sunsets…imagine sipping ice tea from one of these lovely sets.

Akaesha Designs had some great cuddle spots with the REAct Hud, including a flower, tree swing and raft.  No matter your home, one would work.  Can’t wait to run by the store and see what else is available.

So, there you have it.  Check back soon and thank you for reading my posts.  🙂

Revelry for Relay

Winterfell Community Center - Rosehaven, Winterfell

Gabrielle Riel from Radio Riel presented a special edition of her monthly Revelry on Reverie radio show.  She played music from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries and we all danced to Early Jazz, Ragtime and other popular music of the time. The event was broadcast on

The Aether Chrononauts traveled back in time with the to 1913, the year in which the American Cancer Society was founded.  The event was formal with dresses and suits from the Edwardian era. Cassie, Wildstar, Olde and Gabi planned the stunning event in the Revelry 1913 Ballroom at Rosehaven. It was truly a formal tea for a great cause.

We thank Miss Riel for supporting the Aether Chrononauts and for supporting Relay for Life!
